To me, it feels like an illiterate, perhaps unintentional, but nevertheless effective statement of pure nihilism. I like the dirty, nasty aesthetic and tone. Does it compare with Fulci? No. But I think it's not so much tedious as it is a minimalistic mood piece. Am I overthinking it? Probably. I'm fairy sure any art I see in the film is largely accidental, but I still love it.
