Yum-Yum's Transition A Go-Go! (Me, 2017) - WARNING: This is not a movie review

Hey, cult movie fans, loyal readers, and miscellaneous weirdos and perverts. What's happening? I hope you're all doing well. It just dawned on me that I haven't posted a new movie review in quite some time. Which, you have to admit, is kinda messed up, as I'm usually pretty regimental when it comes to posting on HOSI.

Well, first off, I'm not dying. I'm doing fine. Just peachy, in fact. It's just that this whole "transition thing" is currently taking up a huge chunk of my time.

As a result, I haven't been able to focus on writing movie reviews as of late.

To be honest, I'm finding out the hard way that being trans is not only time consuming, it's exhausting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It's just turning out to be more work than I anticipated; you know, with all the doctors appointments, laser hair removal sessions, electrolysis, name change/gender marker paperwork (ugh, what a nightmare), counseling, blood tests, support groups, makeup tutorials, voice training, etc.

Anyway...

Hopefully I can get back to watching and reviewing fucked up and not-so fucked up movies with my trademark gusto soon.

In the meantime, thanks for the support.

  3. Congratulations yum-yum! I wish you nothing but the best with your transition. Btw have you heard of Isabella bunny Bennett? She's a member of steam powered giraffe and has a series of videos on YouTube of her transition from male to female.

    1. Thanks, Katie. You commented on my Orlando review nearly a year ago... so... *hugs*

I'm not familiar with them... I'll definitely subscribe to their channel.

I used to avoid transition channels on YouTube because they made feel worthless. But now that I'm a little further along, I'm singing a different tune... I now feel a sisterly bond with my fellow trans women and trans men that wasn't there pre-HRT.

    2. You're welcome *hugs back* I recommended them because I thought you'd be interested. I can understand why you might feel worthless at first but I'm glad you changed your tune about it.

    3. Okay, I just watched my first batch of Bunny Bennett videos... and... damn, the difference between Transition MTF Vlog numbers 4 and 5 is remarkable. Trying to remain calm. :D

Seriously, though, they're very cool. Thanks for the recommendation.

    4. I just finished watching Bunny's last MtF VBlog transition series... #11, I think. Anyway, yeah, I love her, she's so cool... and I can relate to almost everything she's been through.

Again, thanks for the recommendation. :)

Bitch Slap, eh? Yeah, I think I know that one... kinda Russ Meyer-y. I'll add to the list.

  5. I'm looking for movies like thriller horror movies with women that has long nails that kill like ,Def by temptation, Night Angel, Necropolis seen there's more out there so can you please help me

    1. Weaponized female fingernails? Yeah, yeah, that's an awesome motif. I dig it.

Unfortunately, the only one's I can think of off the top of my head that have anything close to resembling that is Return of the Living Dead 3 and 1990: The Bronx Warriors. However, those flicks feature chicks who have added stabbing implements to their fingers. In other words, they don't use their actual fingernails to kill or maim.

Mystics of Bali, perhaps? I recall the main demon lady wielding her fingernails in a menacing manner. But I don't think she actually hurts anyone with them.

Rats. I'm sorry I couldn't be more of assistance.

  8. I'm a long time fan of your reviews and wanted to say - good luck and congratulations on your transition!

You're darn right that it's so much work (beyond socially and emotionally there is way too much legal stuff to deal with). Still, it is ABSOLUTELY worth becoming the person you know yourself to be :). Welcome to the family!

      Thanks. ❤️

This may sound weird, but I feel like I'm becoming more and more fabulous with each passing day.

So, yeah, it is ABSOLUTELY worth all the unnecessary hassle we're put through.

  9. Just found this site and it's way cool and I'm really enjoying it ... and let me recommend the oeuvre of probably one of the greatest schlockmeisters the world has never known. Check out the movies of Andy Sidaris ... he started out doing sports broadcasting (he WAS ABC's Wide Wide World of Sports, pretty much, and is at least partially responsible for Howard Cosell) and he went from TV sports to making B-movies. I know about him because a friend of mine was part of his stock company of (bad) actors and so I saw a lot of these movies as they came out ... I especially recommend "Hard Ticket To Hawaii," "Picasso Trigger," and "Malibu Express" as probably the best of the lot but any of them are so bad you'll plotz. Sincerely yours, Jennifer Paradis

    1. Hey, Jenny.

Believe it or not, I've reviewed 10(!) of Andy Sidaris' movies... 12 if you include the two directed by his son, Christian.

So, I'm all too familiar with the first-rate schlock produced by Mr. Sidaris. lol

  10. Whoa, way to go!
I've been coming to this blog for years, but this is the first time I think I actually went to the main page. Who'da thunk?

Whenever somebody asks me where to find cool movies, I direct them here, so really I just wanted to say thanks so much for the site! A++ in my books!

  14. Hi Yum Yum. Glad to see you're still here from the comments on this thread. Hope you are well and healthy.
Anyway some movies on your listings are making their way to HD Blu-ray. One I'll be buying shortly, Malibu High (1979) released by Vinegar Syndrome (boutique house) and can be purchased on Amazon. My order will be in this week as I haven't seen this in HD yet and not really seen it since 1979 at the 29 Palms Drive-In/Roller Rink in 29 Palms, CA.

I'll keep you posted. Godspeed and Good Health to you.

    Sincerely
    Brad

PS: Still waiting on Skatetown USA. But at least now we have Roller Boogie (1979) and Xanadu (1980) on HD Blu-ray.

    1. Hey, Bradley.

      Yeah, I'm still here.

Not quite ready yet... but I am looking forward to getting back into the movie-watching/reviewing racket.

I love Malibu High... I'm happy to hear Vinegar Syndrome is giving it /or has given it an HD release.

And jeez, still no upgrade of Skatetown USA?!? That's not right.

  15. Oh and Yum-Yum, may I suggest some flicks for you to check out and write some crazy reviews on? A couple may seem tame being made during the final days of the old Production Code but they still managed to put in some pretty weird & wild concepts in. The list:

Boeing Boeing (1965, available on Blu).
Way Way Out (1966, on Amazon Online).
Invasion Of The Bee Girls (1973, available on Blu).
Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969, just released on Blu from Twilight Time).
Coffee, Tea Or Me (1973, available on DVD)
Big Bad Mama (1974, available on Blu).

    Godspeed.

  18. Hey Yum Yum!
I absolutely love your blog and your choice of movies to write about!
I wish you all the luck and time in the world for a safe and happy transition! Maybe when you start writing reviews again, you'll consider using this
(free) tool we at isnotTV are working on, that newspapers like HuffPost are already using. It’s an interactive widget that catches the attention of your readers because it shows the trailer, all the info about the movie, and more.
To see an example of our widget and find more info, check out this link http://www.isnottv.com/bloggers

The widget is now available for free for a limited time for bloggers. The only thing we ask in return is for you to verify (and correct when necessary) the info shown on the widget when you use one - it helps us curate content.

Please tell me what you think about it, and if you'd like to know more don't hesitate to contact me at sara@isnottv.com

    Keep up the good work!!

  19. I just discovered your site while trying to find a place to download The Beaver Trilogy, and OMG, you have just become my top film-finding resource. It's kind of spooky how perfect this blog is to me; I'm also a trans woman and Caligari '89 is one of my favorites that seemingly no one else ever watched. Your aesthetic sensibilities are so spot-on and your reviews are a delight to read. "The cinematic equivalent of discovering first-rate cunnilingus at the world's worst hot dog stand". Holy shit. Nailed it.

Keep kicking ass! Thanks for an awesome site!

      You're welcome. :)

  24. Hi Y-Y Emma! I happened upon this vid of what I think's the best of what I've seen in the discussion of what's wrong with Jordan Peterson, at some point was reminded of the set design & camp of Doctor Caligari, and immediately thought of you. I hope you enjoy it and that June is treating you weller than well:
